Dr Obinna Igwillo, from Abia state, has broke a very big record in the field of medicine working with a team of doctors and other medical personnel to carry out a brilliant robotic surgery.
Robotic Surgery allows doctors to perform many types of complex procedures with more precision, flexibility and control than is possible with conventional techniques. Robotic surgery is usually associated with minimally invasive surgery — procedures performed through tiny incisions.
Igwilo had his internship at the Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu, and his externship in the UK at Whipps Cross University Hospital.
The operation was carried out in a collaboration between Fayetteville Veteran Affairs Medical Centre, North Carolina and the Department of Defense.
