Car in the UK 'blows Up' From Too Much Air Freshener

A car has exploded in Halifax, UK when a motorist lit a cigarette after spraying an excessive amount of air freshener, according to BBC reports.

Firefighters said he used "excessive" amounts of aerosol spray before the fire ignited.

Gas from the air freshener reportedly blew out the windscreen and windows, and buckled the doors, but the man managed to escape with just minor injuries.

The driver was stopped in traffic  when the explosion occurred.
The BBC reported that impact from the explosion caused damage to windows of businesses in the vicinity.

Despite the damage, UK police said the incident "could have been worse" and warned others to follow safety advice.

The road was momentarily closed while UK police and fire service investigated the incident.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service told the BBC that the cause of the "dramatic" incident was "excessive" air freshener use.
