How To Make Banana Peel Tea and Benefits

Banana tea is made using  a peeled banana,Banana peels are typically discarded as trash, but they actually contain a dense concentration of nutrients including potassium and dietary fiber. While it seems unlikely that people will begin eating whole bananas anytime soon, peel included, banana peel tea is beginning to gain popularity.

Most of the health benefits are due to the pectin, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, vitamin C, potassium, manganese, and magnesium, among others.

Banana peel has higher amounts of magnesium and potassium than the fruit. Since magnesium may help with sleep, the tea is touted as a remedy for insomnia. While some say it’s good for weight loss.

Magnesium is often called “magic mineral” because it also helps with hormone balance, stress support, detoxification and more.

They also contain “the amino acid L-tryptophan, which gets converted to 5-HTP in the brain. The 5-HTP in turn is converted to serotonin (a relaxing neurotransmitter) and melatonin,” aka the sleep hormone.

How to Make Banana Peel Tea .

The key to creating your basic banana peel tea is to use thin banana peels from super ripe bananas. Make sure to have something to do with the fruit inside of the banana peel, or the whole thing will be pointless.
Use a very ripe banana, so the peel will be thinner and sweeter. You can use the fruit inside too or just the peel itself. Put them in a boiling pot of water for 10 to 15 minutes. If you wanted to use the fruit inside the banana peel, cut the ends first. Strain the water with the peeled banana, use a colander in straining. Leave the strained contents in a mug or any cup available and leave it for some time to cool. Once the strained contents turn lukewarm, You can add cinnamon or sugar into it. You can also add a dash of milk or with about just anything.
